No Avocado
Good Morning Faithful Followers (all two of you)
Little Man is napping so I thought I may be able to get some blog time in.
Little Man will be turning 5 months old next week. Oh how time flies. We have been giving him rice cereal since his 4 month mark and have also introduced some bananas. This little guy can eat. He absolutely loves solid food and grunts, cries, and throws a fit if you don't feed him fast enough. The past couple of days the hubby and I have noticed his eczema on his head has started to get a bit worse. We decided to cut out the bananas for a couple of days in order to determine the cause for the flare up. In doing this, I had to come up with another food to introduce to him (plain cereal doesn't cut it anymore calorie wise). I read on several different homemade baby food sites that avocado is one of the best first foods to introduce. It is packed full of vitamins and good for you fats that babies need. Awesome! I ran to the store to purchase this super food (actually I needed to go grocery shopping anyway). Since I am still waiting on my beloved food processor to arrive, I had the daunting task of mashing up the avocado by hand. After minutes of hard mashing and a green stuff falling on the counter, the floor and the dog's head, I finally got the green goo to a consistency I thought KJ would approve of. HA! First bite goes in... first bite comes out followed by gags and whines from Little Man. New flavor, I understand. So I tried again. This time, I got a grimace, a gag, and out it came again. This went on for several minutes most of which followed the same sequence as above mentioned. Me, being the determined person and mother that I am, and with Thomas the train resounding in my head, "I think I can, I think I can," I just kept at it. We tried every combination of rice cereal and avocado ratio we could and still no success. Maybe when the beloved food processor gets here I can make him some guacamole and he'll eat it that way...
Hmmm, what can we try next? Sweet Potato? I think maybe, yes!
